17 February 2025

PT FWD Insurance Indonesia (“FWD Insurance”) and Prestasi Junior Indonesia (“PJI”) commence the third-year implementation of JA SparktheDream, reinforcing the commitment to improving financial literacy among young people. This sustainable financial education program targeting 2,000 participants from junior high school students.

Since its inception in 2023, JA SparktheDream has reached over 3,700 students with the support of hundreds of volunteers. This year, the program will expand to more regions, including Jakarta, South Tangerang, Depok, Bandung, Cimahi, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo, and new areas such as Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, and Semarang.

Rudy F. Manik, Chief Human Resources & Marketing Officer FWD Insurance, stated, “We believe that financial literacy is an essential skill that should be instilled from an early age. With the expanded reach of this program, we hope to engage more students, equip them with a more comprehensive understanding of financial management, and foster a healthy financial culture starting from school. We have also been observing the implementation of the program since its launch, where we have seen increased enthusiasm from the students in participating in this program, even achieving success in the Asia-Pacific level competition.”

The third-year implementation of this program is also part of an effort to support the improvement of financial literacy in Indonesia, particularly among students. According to the 2024 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) conducted by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the financial literacy and inclusion indices for students are at 56.42% and 69%, respectively. These figures remain lower than the national average, which stands at 65.43% for literacy and 75.02% for inclusion.

Pribadi Setiyanto, Chairman of The Executive Board of Prestasi Junior Indonesia, stated, “We continuously strive to provide a more interactive and relevant learning experience for students. Through this program, we hope students not only understand the fundamental principles of financial management but can also apply them in daily life and develop innovative solutions that create a social impact.”

In addition to teaching the basic concepts of financial management, this year JA SparktheDream also introduces new material on taxation. Students are introduced to taxes and their crucial role in building the nation and society. Furthermore, the program will include a bootcamp to equip participants with the skills to develop their social innovation ideas, culminating in a competition at the end of the program.

By continuously innovating and expanding its reach, JA SparktheDream remains committed to empowering the next generation with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances wisely and contribute to society.
